Applying and the unique number
One application covers all social landlords in the department: online at demande-logement-social.gouv.fr or with form 14069. Within a month you get a registration certificate with a unique number; your waiting time counts from that date. The paper form can be filed at the town hall or with a social landlord. Select several towns to widen your options.
Common mistake
Forgetting the yearly renewal.
Renew every year
Renew before the date shown, or the application is deleted and your waiting time lost. Report changes: a birth, separation, job loss or eviction threat. A reminder is sent. Also report unfit housing: these changes may increase priority.
Common mistake
Not reporting a birth or eviction.
: when nothing is offered
You can apply to the departmental mediation commission after an abnormally long wait, if homeless, facing eviction without rehousing, or living in unfit or overcrowded housing with a child or disabled person. If recognised as a priority and no offer follows, you can go to the administrative court. The abnormally-long-wait threshold is set by the department.
